Free wallpaper and calendar for February

Since reading The Simple Guide to Minimalist Living I’ve gone from a too-often cluttered desktop with folders, icons and such, to the uber-minimalist desktop with nothing but the Recycle Bin on it (anyone know how to get rid of that?).

It’s been great!

Using Launchy and adding My Documents to the quick launch bar, I haven’t missed a thing — and now my desktop is so nice and clutter free. It’s almost inspiring within itself.

Yet, as part of this transformation, I wanted some simpler wallpapers with a simple calendar on them as well.

Knowing that our good friend Thomas Matthie (aka @Headphonaught) has been putting out some excellent photography as of late, I went on a hunt for the perfect photo in his collection.

I was immediately inspired by a shot of a snowy field in his home town of Motherwell, Scotland.

Of course I could hog all the goodness and simply tell you about my sweet new minimalist desktop — or I could offer the wallpaper to you as well.

And since Thomas was generous enough to let us use the photo in the first place, I’m glad to share the wallpaper design with you as well.

I’ve made two versions for you to enjoy – one for dual screen setups (2560×1024) and one for single screen (1600×1200).

Hope you enjoy and are inspired!

You can see more of Thomas’ photos on Flickr and follow his blog at http://nanolog.blogspot.com or on Twitter: @headphonaught.

Have you adopted the minimalist desktop? How’s it working out for you? Does it inspire you, quicken your work? Let us know in the comments below.
