A great talk/video from Grant Blakeman on minimalism at TEDx Boulder…

From the video…

Minimalism is simply stripping down things to make them better.

It’s not about just stripping everything away but curating things better…

  • Remove distractions.
  • Remove something before adding something new.
  • Find that white or negative space in life.
  • Change the way we do things so we can focus better.

The ultimate goal of minimalism is to live a full life.

How are you doing that today?

    Hi Jonathan,
Just catching up with several of your posts. You asked about what inspired me to live more simply. I’m sure that my experiences of seeing how little other people in the world have made a permanent impression on my in my earlier years. Simplicity for its own sake is simply another form of selfishness, but simplicity to help others ‘simply live’ is a better focus for my life–

    • Couldn’t agree more Willow!

I thought about expanding this statement in the post above “The ultimate goal of minimalism is to live a full life.” to add that living a full life means living a life not centered on yourself – one that’s concerned about making the world a better place for all.

The video doesn’t touch on that at all but I think it’s a vital part of simplicity and/or minimalism. If it’s all about me and what I get out of it… I think we’re missing the point.

      Thanks!
