Bird watching in the backyard

We put up a bird feeder this spring as part of our annual landscaping re-do and we’ve really enjoyed watching the various birds that come and go throughout the day (usually in the evening).

This morning I spotted a new bird – a Purple Finch I believe.

Any other theories on what type of bird it might be?

    It COULD be a Cassin’s Finch, which looks almost exactly like a purple finch, except with a bit more brown around the back collar, which this little cutie seems to have.

    OR it could be a House Finch, which looks almost exactly like the purple finch and the Cassin’s finch, except with even a bit MORE brown here and there.
