The Simple Manifesto #24 – Be present
This is part of our series on The Simple Living Manifesto. We invite you to join us on the journey.
The 24th idea in the manifesto is:
Be present. These two words can make a huge difference in simplifying your life. Living here and now, in the moment, keeps you aware of life, of what is going on around you and within you. It does wonders for your sanity. Read tips on how to do it.
Enjoy the moment.
Enjoy the moments.
Whether it’s sitting in traffic, playing catch with your kids, enjoying a good book, enjoying coffee with your spouse or drinks with friends — enjoy the moments.
Make all your moments enjoyable and memorable.
Don’t let life slip you by.
Going a step further…
While each moment must be treasured, being present is far more than just enjoying a quiet moment alone.
Being present is really about the people you share those moments with.
Sharing moments with the ones you love and being compassionate even to those you don’t.
As you may remember, my simplicity statement says:
I will live simply by investing in people and reducing my dependence on stuff so that I may truly love all that’s been given to me and create a better world for those around me.
The ideacamp founders suggest, being present means…
- respectfully listening to those in your community
- collaborating with others to serve your community
- embracing the communities’ issues as your own
Are you being present with those around you? In your quest towards simplicity are you noticing and caring for those around you?
And what about you? How do you live in the present? What does it mean to you?
