Simple Manifesto #61 – Subscribe to Unclutterer

simplemanifesto

This is part of our series on Leo Babauta’s Simple Living Manifesto. We invite you to join us on the journey.

The 61st idea in the manifesto is:

But subscribe to Unclutterer. Probably the best blog on simplifying your stuff and routines (along with Zen Habits, of course!).

Last week we recommended purging your RSS feeds.

But if you’re gonna read any, Unclutterer is ideal.

So is Leo’s site, Zen Habits.

And of course they’re a couple of the top dogs when it comes to simplifying, simple living and minimalism, but there are a number of other great bloggers that I’d recommend paying attention to as well. These folks are at the top of my reading list — my go-to blogs right now.

  • Becoming MinimalistJoshua Becker is a big evangelist for “rational minimalism.” He shows us that even a family living in the ‘burbs can be minimalist just as easily as a single guy/girl traveling the world. I also enjoy that Joshua writes great, simple posts that are well thought out and original to boot.
  • Itty Bitty Impact – love this site — if for nothing else than the beautiful design. But Tonia Simeone also has wonderful, helpful hints on how to reduce our footprint on creation. Including helpful, original videos along the way.
  • Sustainable TraditionsJason Fowler and his team have built a great site around their mission of cultivating and renewing the understanding and practice of a holistic, embodied whole-life Christian faith. The site challenges me as well as keeps me rooted at the same time.
  • 365 less things – this site was recently recommended from a reader and it’s been a joy to read ever since. Colleen has essentially taken the “Fool month of purging” idea to a whole new level – getting rid of one item a day for an entire year.
  • Love & Trash – another great site that I’ve just recently found. Think DIY + recyling = Love and Trash. The Hun (aka Jessica Reeder) and her team share great ideas on the site and are always inspiring folks to think differently.
  • Fabulously Broke in the City & Everyday MinimalistThe Everyday Minimalist has done a great job of building 3 great sites about minimalism, style and more. She also writes for Style on a String, which I’m sure is great for all the ladies out there (but doesn’t hold my interest for long ;-) ).

What about you? Who are your go-to blogs? What simple living blogs would you choose as your top 5 or 6?

Bonus: DJ Pogo and his mother in the garden. HT Sustainable Traditions.
