Simple Manifesto #29 – Establish routines
This is part of our series on The Simple Living Manifesto. We invite you to join us on the journey.
The 29th idea in the manifesto is:
Establish routines. The key to keeping your life simple is to create simple routines. A great article on that here.
It takes some time to build routines, but once you get them going — they can make a world of difference — if for nothing else than keeping you on track.
A few routines I’ve been practicing this year…
- Blogging each weekday on my personal blog
- Blogging at least three times a week here
- Preparing meals each weeknight for Laurie and I
A few routines I’ve started recently…
- Checking my e-mail when I first arrive to work and then only at 10, 2 and 4
- Sorting our snail mail the moment I walk in the door — rather than letting it sit for a week
- Taking the time eat slower — putting my fork down between each bite (still having to remind myself from time to time)
Once you get your mind set on doing something on a consistent basis, it’s not forced, it starts to come simply.
And isn’t that the overall idea?
So try adding a few routines in your day and see how much simpler your day and week can become.
