Do you suck the life out of people?
We all have one or two of those friends who just drain the life out of you when you’re around them (or is it just me?!)
They’re critical, complaining, selfish, bitter, always finding the worst in others, demanding, stuck in their ways.
The list could go on and on.
But then there are also those people who life literally flows out of.
Trust me — you want to surround yourself with these people.
You want to spend every second you can with these people.
They refresh you, encourage you and inspire you.
Surround yourself with people who are…
- encouraging
- content
- sacrificing
- other–focused
- interactive
- forgiving
- humble
- joyful
- hopeful
- understanding
- grateful
- trusting
- accepting
- compassionate
- patient
- visionary
- warm-hearted
- social
- kind
- caring
- passionate
- seeking to serve
And minimize your time with people who are…
- critical
- complaining
- selfish
- pleasure-focused
- isolated
- bitter
- arrogant
- angry
- pessimistic
- perfectionists
- never satisfied
- cynical
- difficult
- judgmental
- demanding
- stuck in the past
- cold-hearted
- alone
- rude
- harsh
- bored
- seeking to control
And while we can easily point the fingers and elbow our neighbor — pointing out the flaws — but the real task is finding out where we sit on these lists.
Are you sucking the life out of others? Or are you offering a life giving alternative?
Look at the two lists and then give yourself a score between 1 and 10 for each list (10 being the highest).
Where do you see yourself? Where do others see you? How can you improve?
(HT to Brian Treadaway for the original list)
