15 simple ways to improve your health in a week

  1. Drink plenty of water — most doctors recommend at least eight to nine glasses of water a day
  2. Avoid drinking sodas or other sugary drinks
  3. Take a 15-30 minute walk each day
  4. Cook your meals this week — avoid eating out and eating processed foods
  5. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar
  6. Eat your food on smaller plates or bowls — a pile of food on a six-inch plate looks much bigger than it does on a 10-inch plate
  7. Get plenty of sleep — seven to nine hours a night for average adults
  8. Turn off the TV for one week
  9. Turn off your computer at home
  10. Plant a garden
  11. Park in the furthest parking spot from the store as possible to get extra walking in
  12. Avoid the elevators and take the stairs instead
  13. Laugh
  14. Try some basic yoga in the morning
  15. Sit quietly for five to ten minutes each day and take deep breaths
