I've recently realized that the "where your wallet is, so should your time be" principle applies to our charitable giving too. It's wonderful to give to others (and frankly, I think most people could stand to do a lot more than they do, but I'm allegedly "gifted" with giving, so what do I know of others?), but we should be giving our time to organizations that we're willing to back financially as well. For many (not all), it's pretty easy to donate some cash here and there. If we really want to support an organization or cause, why not put some time and muscle and brain power into it too?
